Buhari Approves Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, as a Degree-awarding Institution

The president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), passed a law in Abuja on Friday aiming to establish the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC) in wudil, Kano State, as a Degree-awarding institution for academic and professional training.

The police academy bill was one of two bills approved by the president and recently passed by the National Assembly, according to a statement signed late Friday by Garba Shehu, the president’s senior special adviser to the media and public.

The statement was entitled “President Bukhari Approves Bill of Establishing Nigerian Police Academy, Combating Animal Diseases.”

The Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC)(Establishment) Act 2021 establishes and provides the legal framework for the Nigeria Police Academy, wudil, Kano State, as a Degree-awarding institution for the provision of academic and professional training.

The Academy will now be headed by a Commander who is not below the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and is appointed by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of the Inspector General of Police under Section 8 of the Act.
