We hereby inform the general public, interested and qualified candidates that the sale of the Graduate School of the Umaru Musa Yaradua University, Katsina, UMYU has begun for the 2020/2021 academic year.

Prospective students should apply for the following full-time postgraduate programs at Umaru Musa Yaradua University, Katsina for the 2020/2021 academic session:-

Entry requirements for Umaru Musa Yaradua University Postgraduate Admission Form 2020/2021 | Full-Time

A. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA

The requirements for admission to the postgraduate diploma are;
Graduates from recognized universities;
Holder of higher national diploma (HND) with minimum pass for lower credits or equivalent in relevant field;
Holder of a higher national diploma (HND) with no credit-level education with three years of postgraduate experience;
Applicants with qualifications other than those listed above are admitted to the University Council and the Senate.
Applicants with a third-class degree in a field other than education may be considered after three years of postgraduate experience. Those currently in training may be considered in their specialization;
All candidates undergo a selection process.

  • B. MASTER’S DEGREE
  • Qualifications for the master’s program:-
  • A graduate from a recognized university who has earned a recognized bachelor’s degree with at least second-class honors or equivalent. Applicants with a certificate of high school leave and additional postgraduate qualifications at the credit card level from a recognized institution have an even greater advantage.
  • Applicants with qualifications other than those listed above are eligible for the University Senate.
  • Meet the requirements for admission to a vocational master’s degree:
  • Graduates from a recognized university who have obtained a recognized bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject, at least with a distinction in second grade or equivalent.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in third grade who have at least five years of relevant work experience.
  • Applicants with a Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least one credit card and at least one postgraduate credit card from a recognized institution;
  • Applicants with qualifications other than those listed above are eligible for the University Senate.

C. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD)

Eligibility for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy:
Graduate from a recognized university with a good master’s degree with a CGPA of 3.50 and above, suitable for the proposed field of study;
Graduates from recognized universities who have obtained a master’s degree in philosophy with a CGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale to apply for a doctorate degree according to the proposed field of study;
In addition to (i) – (ii) above, the applicant must have at least a bachelor’s degree from the second class of the lower class;
Applicants with qualifications other than those listed above who are accepted by the Graduate School Board of Trustees and the University Senate;
Candidates must indicate the proposed field of study and provide a summary of at least 500 words of the proposed research topic.

Matriculation requirements:
In addition to A, B, C and D, applicants must meet university requirements, namely five O level credit passes including English and mathematics.

Selection process:
All candidates undergo a selection process. Selection / entrance examinations can be made on the date announced on the university website (www.umyu.edu.ng). Therefore, applicants are advised to find out more.

Those interested in all postgraduate courses can apply online from 9 July to 30 July 2021 via the university portal https://collegeportal.umyu.edu.ng/pg/applicant/index.
The procedure for paying the application fee (N10, 500) can be found at www.umyu.edu.ng or https://collegeportal.umyu.edu.ng/pg/applicant/index.
All applicants should request their previous college to send a copy of their academic transcript along with Form B to the Secretariat of Graduate Qualifications of Umaru Musa Yaradua University in Katsina.
